Distracted Driving

Distracted driving is the practice of driving a motor vehicle while engaged in another activity, typically one that involves the use of a mobile phone or another electronic device.

The Facts:

  • Using a cellphone while driving reduces brain activity by 37 per cent.
  • You are four times more likely to be in a crash if you talk on your phone while driving.
  • More than 860 Manitobans are injured each year due to distracted driving.
  • One in three deaths on Manitoba roads involve a distracted driver.

Tragedy can occur in a split second when drivers allow their focus to shift away from the road! Don’t put yourself or others at risk. Pull over, ask your passenger to text for you or wait until you arrive at your destination. If you’re texting, who’s driving?
